Vaccinations : All pets must be fully up to date with their vaccinations, as required by law. Proof must be provided in the form of a Pet Passport or Cartilla Sanitaria. Failure to present valid vaccination records at check-in may result in your pet being refused entry, in which case the booking will be treated as a last-minute cancellation and the deposit will be forfeited. Please refer to www.diggersdentenerife.com/requirements for full details of required vaccinations. Kitten/cats must have completed their vaccination schedule.
Canine Cough: We recommend vaccination against canine cough, although this is not compulsory. Diggers Den cannot accept responsibility should a dog contract canine cough during their stay. If administered, the vaccination must be given at least three weeks prior to arrival and is valid for one year.
Parasite Control: All pets must be up to date with worming, heartworm prevention, and flea and tick treatments. Worming should be carried out every three months. These treatments can be provided on arrival if pre-ordered in advance to ensure availability. Additional charges apply and must be paid on arrival.
Health Conditions & Senior Pets: If your pet has a chronic medical condition or has undergone recent surgery, you must visit your vet within 10 days prior to boarding and obtain a fitness-to-stay certificate (or an official stamp on the Clinical Examination page of their passport or health record). Clear written instructions must be provided for any medication. Diggers Den accepts no responsibility for pre-existing conditions or age-related issues. For dogs over 10 years (medium/large breeds) or over 12 years (small breeds), a pre-stay veterinary health check is strongly recommended.
Potentially Dangerous Dogs: If your dog is legally classified as potentially dangerous, a copy of your licence and valid public liability insurance must be provided.
Additional Costs: Any extra expenses incurred during your pet’s stay, including veterinary treatment or additional food, must be paid in full upon collection. Pets will not be released until all outstanding charges have been settled, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance.
Veterinary Care & Emergencies: Pets will not leave the Diggers Den premises without your prior consent, except in the case of an emergency. We will attempt to contact you before seeking veterinary treatment. If we are unable to reach you within a reasonable timeframe, or if urgent care is required, we will proceed with treatment via our emergency veterinarian. All associated costs are the owner’s responsibility and must be paid within three days of treatment.
Females in Season: We do not accept females in season. If your pet comes into heat during their stay, alternative arrangements must be made immediately.
Damage & Personal Items: Any excessive damage caused to our facilities will be charged to the owner. Please take care with any toys left with your pet, as these may pose a choking or ingestion risk. Diggers Den accepts no responsibility for owner-provided items.
Security & Escapes: If your dog is capable of climbing fences over 2 metres in height, Diggers Den cannot be held responsible in the unlikely event of an escape.
Deposits & Payments: A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure your booking, and the remaining balance due on arrival.
Cancellation Policy: – More than 4 weeks’ notice: full refund. 2–4 weeks’ notice: in low season, your deposit may be credited and in high season, no credit will be issued (high season includes the 2 weeks around Easter, May to September, and the whole of December). Less than 2 weeks’ notice: no credit unless the reserved space is rebooked (often possible via waiting lists).
Check-In & Check-Out: Boarding is charged per day. Departure day is free if your pet is collected before 11:30am. Collections after this time will be charged as an additional day. You must notify us in advance if collecting after 11:30am so we do not allocate the accommodation to another guest. Check-in is available after midday, earlier if the accommodation is vacant from the previous night.
Extended Stays: We will do our best to accommodate additional nights in the event of delays; however, availability cannot be guaranteed. If we are unable to extend the stay, we will assist in finding alternative boarding. A drop-off fee will apply. Diggers Den accepts no responsibility for events at third-party facilities, and any referral does not constitute a personal recommendation.
Non-Collection & Non-Payment: If a pet is not collected or fees remain unpaid, Diggers Den reserves the right to place the pet in a refuge. After 21 days, full legal ownership will transfer to the refuge. We are unable to provide free boarding under any circumstances.
Insurance & Liability: Diggers Den holds public liability insurance as a pet boarding facility up to €150,000. This policy does not cover pre-existing conditions or illnesses but does cover unlikely accidents occurring during your pet’s stay. Provided that reasonable care and standard precautions are taken, Diggers Den cannot be held liable for injury or illness. Further insurance details are available upon request.
No pet will be accepted onto the premises without sight of a valid Pet Passport or Cartilla Sanitaria and proof of vaccinations.
